Standards of Conduct
Personnel are bound by UN staff regulations, codes of conduct and mission-specific directives.
Zero tolerance for SEA
The UN maintains a policy of zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse, including of adults.
Ethics & anti-corruption
Financial disclosure, gifts and conflicts of interest are subject to independent oversight.
TEN RULES CODE OF PERSONAL CONDUCT
A pledge to those we serve
The Ten Rules summarise the personal conduct expected of every Blue Helmet.

Dress, think, talk, act and behave in a manner befitting the dignity of a disciplined, caring, considerate, mature, respected and trusted soldier.

Respect the law of the land, local customs and practices; recognise and respect the culture, religion, traditions and gender roles.

Treat the inhabitants of the host country with respect, courtesy and consideration.

Act with impartiality, integrity and tact.
- 05
Support and aid the infirm, sick and weak; do not commit any act that could result in physical, sexual or psychological harm.

Respect and regard the human rights of all; support and act upon the principles of the UN.
- 07
Do not indulge in immoral acts of sexual, physical or psychological abuse or exploitation of the local population, especially women and children.

Respect and protect the environment of the host country.

Do not become involved in illegal activities, corrupt or improper practices; earn the respect and confidence of those you serve.

Uphold and maintain the trust and confidence of those you serve; the honour of the United Nations is at stake.
Reporting mechanisms
Report suspected misconduct
Reports may be made anonymously and are treated in strict confidence. Serious allegations, including sexual exploitation and abuse, are referred to the Office of Internal Oversight Services.
